1900s Forbidden City Skirt
This antique Qing Dynasty garment displays an art in subtle beauty. It’s composed of Chinese needlework panels and delicate pleating. The outer panels are poppy colored silk damask with a hidden panel in chartreuse - all with blue floral and golden embroidery, decorative ribbons and edged in black piping. The customary top linen band has been removed and closures put in place so the skirt can be worn today.
